Here we have a traditional Japanese lacquer ware shelf, sendai tansu in the store!

The history of sendai tansu has started since Sengoku Era. In the Edo era, a lot of bushi used the shelf for putting away their katanas or imprtant documents. 

In Meiji to Taisho Eras, this kind of shelves were produced the most and a lot of them were also shipped to Europe especially to Germany.

店内ディスプレイには、仙台箪笥が展示されております。こちらの商品は伝統的な本漆で塗装されており、大変貴重な商品となっております。

仙台箪笥は元々、戦国時代から使われたとされており、江戸時代には武士たちが自身の刀や文書類を入れたりと、日常的に愛用されていたそうです。

明治から大正にかけては特に仙台箪笥の生産率が特に高く、ドイツをはじめとしたヨーロッパ諸国へも輸出されていたそうです。
