５月の花 May Flowers

ＡＬＯＨＡ！

日本ではつつじが満開でしょうか？
In Japan, the Tsutsuji(azalea) flowers are blooming.

私の育った場所は、当たり前のように５月になるとつつじを見ました。
Where I grew up, I saw the azaleas as usual every year in May.

私はハワイでツツジの花をみたことがありません。
I never saw flowers of Tsutsuji(azaleas) in Hawaii.

私は日本の四季をいつも思い出します。
It always reminds me of Japan's four seasons.


ワシントンＤＣへ主人と行った時に、多くの家の庭に様々な種類のつつじの花を見ました。
When I went to Washington DC with my husband, I saw a variety of azalea flowers in many gardens.

日本では当たり前のように毎年咲く花も、私の貴重な思い出の花となりました。
Azalea flowers bloom every year in Japan, as a matter of course….It was the flower of my precious memories.


さて、つつじとはTalk about Rhododendron" Tsutsuji (Azalea )",


ツツジはツツジ科のプラントで１０００以上の種類があり、観賞用の花です。庭師の方々にもポピュラーな木です。
Rhododendron"Azalea" is a genus of over 1000 species of woody plants in the heath family, most with showy flowers. It includes the plants known to gardeners as azaleas.


赤・白花が連なって咲くことから「つづき」、また花が筒状であることから「つつ」などと呼ばれ、それが、次第に「つつじ」になったといわれています。
The red and white flowers that bloom chained "Continuation", tubular flowers that are also "being called " such as it gradually "Tsutsuji(Azalea)"is called.


さつきとつつじの違いは？

「さつき」はつつじの一種で、「さつきつつじ」を省略した名前です。 見分けが難しいとされる「つつじ」と「さつき」ですが、新葉より花が先に咲くのが「つつじ」、葉が出てから花が咲くのが「さつき」です。開花時期も若干異 なり、「つつじ」は4月中旬～5月上旬、「さつき」は5月中旬～6月中旬にかけて咲きます。
"Satsuki" is a kind of “Tsutsuji” azalea, "Satsuki azalea" is the shorthand name. Difficult to distinguish the "Tsutsuji(Azalea)"and "Satsuki", but the flowers that bloom earlier than the leaves, "Tsutsuji(Azalea)", and the flowers bloom before leaves are out, "Satsuki" is. Slightly different flowering times, "Tsutsuji(Azalea)" in mid-April to early May, "Satsuki" blooms in mid-May through mid-June.

Characteristics of Shigaraki-yaki

1. Shigaraki pottery is characterized by the fact that pottery is sprinkled with ash, a naturally occurring ash pot (called a bead roe).

2. The iron in the soil is fired, and the surface is slightly reddish or light pinkish fire.

3. The phenomenon of "burning", where the part buried in the ash of the salmon becomes blackish brown.

It is said that these three things that bring about aggravation are characteristic.

Shigaraki is one of Japan's six ancient shrines and is Japan's oldest producing area with a 1250-year tradition.

The beginning of the ceremony begins with the burning of the fuseki tile and the bowl of the bowl when the Emperor Tenmu of Tenpira (742) embarked on the construction of the Shigarakugu.

After that, we have left "Wabi" and "Sabi" unique to Shigaraki, from large to small items such as water jars, rice bowls, tea pots, tea ware, sake pots, braziers, flower pots, etc., leading to today.

信楽焼の特徴

１．信楽焼の特徴は、陶器に灰がふりかかってできる自然降灰釉（ビードロ釉という）。

２．土中の鉄分が焼成することによって表面にほのかに赤く、あるいは薄いかき色のような火色。

３．薪の灰に埋まる部分が黒褐色になる「焦げ」の現象。

あじわいを醸し出すこの３つが特徴だといわれています。

信楽は、日本六古窯の一つで1250年の伝統を誇る日本最古の産地です。

その始まりは、天平14年（742年）聖武天皇が紫香楽宮の造営に着手されたときに、布目瓦、汁器の須恵器を焼かれたことに始まります。

その後、水がめ、種壷、茶壷、茶器、徳利、火鉢、植木鉢など大物から小物に至るまで信楽焼独特の「わび」「さび」を残し今日に至っています。

それを隙間なく編み込んで作ることで、厚みや弾力が出てくるのです。

そうして作られて畳の弾力が快適な睡眠環境作りのサポートをしてくれます。
