I was wondering how many colors do we have in Japanese?
日本語表記で色は何色あるのか疑問に思っていました。


The answer is 465!
４６５色でした！

...I don't know the difference between Color of Sunflower(fcc800) and Color of Turmeric(fabf14).haha
向日葵とウコン色の違いがまったくわかりません。笑

The colors look different in English and Japanese. Even both of them are same "Pink".
同じピンクだとしても、日本語表記と英語表記ではなんだか違って見えます。



Speaking of colors, you've seen many furniture/painting which are using RED. Don't you?
色と言えば、赤を使った日本の家具や絵画を多く見かけませんか？




Because it is said that RED is considered to be auspicial color.
赤は縁起が良いとされているからなんです。

And it means SUN and prosperity too.
そして、太陽、繁栄などの意味もあるそうです。



But Japan's national team of soccer's uniform is BLUE.(And we call the team "SAMURAI BLUE")
しかし、サッカー日本代表のユニフォームは青です。(チームはサムライブルーの愛称で親しまれています)

It's not known exactly why.
理由は定かではないそうです。

If they changed the color to RED, I might feel weird...
もし赤に変えたとしたら、なんだか変な感じがしますね・・・

SAMURAI BLUE is totally much to Japan's national team!!!
サムライブルーは日本代表にしっくりきてますね！！！

Healing/癒し

Recently,morning time and night time is cold, isn't it?
最近朝と夜は冷え込みますね。

Many customers say that they are healed when they come to Sannaka-WEST.
お店に来ると癒されると言ってくださるお客様が大勢いらっしゃいます。

It seems like that the music in the shop and Japanese style fountain which made from Shigaraki ware, those heal the cutomers.
お店に流れている音楽と信楽焼のつくばいがどうやらお客様を癒しているようです。

It is said that the scent of wood and grass also heal people too.
木の香りや草の香りにも人は癒されるものです。

There are Tub which made of Hinoki(Japanese cypress),Bath Tub which made of Hiba wood, Igusa(Rush) mat, Tatami mat, Drawer which made of paulownia in the store. maybe the scent of those things also heal customers unconsciously.
お店にはヒノキの桶やヒバでできたお風呂、い草マットや畳、桐でできた箪笥も取り扱っているので、そういったものの香りも無意識にお客様をいやしているのかもしれません。

I ate Natto for Breakfast today!
今朝朝ごはんに納豆を食べました！



Natto is a traditional Japanese food made from soybeans fermented with Bacillus subtilis.
納豆は大豆を発酵させた伝統的な和食です。

It is popular especially as a breakfast food.
朝食としてよく食べられます。

As a rich source of protein, nattō and the soybean paste miso formed a vital source of nutrition in feudal Japan.
納豆と味噌はたんぱく質豊富で、日本人の大事な栄養源となってます。

Nattō can be an acquired taste because of its powerful smell, strong flavor, and slippery texture.
納豆は強い臭いと味、ぬるっとした独特の食感があります。

In Japan nattō is most popular in the eastern regions, including Kantō, Tōhoku, and Hokkaido.
日本では、関東、東北、北海道でよく食されます。



Most of my friends who live in U.S. don't like Natto...Because of the texture and the smell.
アメリカに住んでいる私の友達のほとんどは、臭いと食感のせいで納豆が嫌いです･･･

Do you know Kiri/Paulownia tomentosa (also known as the Empress Tree, Princess Tree or Foxglove Tree)?
桐はご存知ですか？

How about character of Kiri?
桐の特徴、特性はご存知ですか？


Kiri is light and stay dry.
That's why Kiri is used for Tansu, Kimono case.
桐は軽く、湿気を通さないので箪笥や着物入れに使われます。

And insects dont't like the smell of Kiri.
そして虫は桐の匂いを嫌うと言われております。

Fire is hardly spread on Kiri.
火は桐には燃え移りにくいそうです。

That's why Kiri is sometimes used as inside material for a safe.
なので金庫の内側の素材として使われることもあるそうです。



We do have some tansu which used Kiri.
桐を使った箪笥をいくつか取り揃えております。

I've been to Makino Chaya before, and had a great time and great dinner!!

One day before, I watched which country people among Japan・Russia・U.S.A ・Thailand・France gets the highest smile point by smile measure machine on the Japanese news program.
先日、日本のニュース番組を見ていたところ、日本・ロシア・アメリカ・タイ･フランスの五カ国のうちどの国の人が笑顔を測定する機械で最も笑顔度が高いかというのを調べているのを見ました。

As a result, 1st was Thailand,2nd was Russia,3rd was U.S.A ,4th was France and final was Japan.
結果1位はタイ2位ロシア3位アメリカ4位フランス5位日本でした。

I was imagining 1st place would be U.S.A.
私はアメリカが1位だと思っていたので、この結果には驚きました。

There is a traditional greeding "Wai" in Thailand.since childhood, they are use to make a smile for Wai.the reason Japanese people hard to make a smile is weak face muscle because Japanese launguage has more vowel than other countries launguage.
1位のタイは伝統的な”ワイ”という挨拶の仕方により幼い頃から笑顔を作る事が習慣になっているのだそうです。逆に日本人が笑顔が苦手な理由は日本語は母音が多いため顔の表情筋が弱いからだそうです。

Of course,there should be Japanese who speak only Japanese and make a smile easily.
もちろん日本人の中にも笑顔が得意な人もいるはずです。

It commemorates the opening of the 1964 Summer Olympics being held in Tokyo, and exists to promote sports and an active lifestyle.
1964年の夏のオリンピックが東京で行われたことの記念と、スポーツに親しみ健康な生活を送ることを主とされています。

Some sports facilities waive the charge on Health and Sports Day.
