Day of a tree?/木の日？

I have a bicycle and it was named "Tuesday". haha
私は自転車を１台持っておりまして、チューズデーという名前です。笑

When I named it, my housemate asked me the reason why it's Tuesday.
命名した時に、一緒に住んでいる友人がなぜにチューズデーなのかと聞いてきました。

First of all, I got it on Tuesday.haha
火曜日に買ったから。笑
And the bike is RED.
そして赤いから。
She asked me why does the red color related to Tuesday.
彼女はなぜに火曜日と赤が関係しているのか聞いてきました。（日本の方でしたらきっとわかりますよね）

Japanese uses Kanji Character and each character has meaning.
日本人は漢字を使います。そしてそれぞれの漢字には意味があります。


Tuesday is 火曜日. 火 this character means "Fire".
RED...FIRE...TUESDAY!
赤･･･火･･･火曜日！

Monday is 月曜日. 月 means MOON.
Wednesday is 水曜日. 水 means WATER.

Thursday is 木曜日. 木 means TREE.
Friday is 金曜日.　金 means MONEY/GOLD.
Saturday is 土曜日. 土 means EARTH.

Sunday is 日曜日. 日 means SUN.


So, today is a day of a tree!
そう、本日は木の日なのです！


After I left Japan and started living in an another country, I was realized the beauty of our cultures.
日本を離れて他の国で生活をし始めたら、日本文化の美しさに気付かされました。

Zen, Wabi-Sabi, Kanji, Food, People....EVERYTHING!
禅、わびさび、漢字、食べ物、人・・・全てです！

I wasn't able to realize this if I didn't leave Japan.
きっと日本を離れなかったら気付かなかったと思います。

はい、私日本大好きです！そして日本人でいることにとても誇りを持っております＾＾

In Japan, we do have Valentine's day too! But it's little bit different with U.S.'s Valentine's day.
日本にもバレンタインデーがありますがアメリカのものとは少し違います。

女の子が男の子にチョコレートをあげるのです！

That's why there is a lot of advertisement of chololate on February.
なので２月はチョコレートの宣伝が多いです。

Also, girls give chocolate to their friends too.
そして、女の子は友達にチョコをあげたりもします。


I found an interesting fact of Valentine's Day in Korea.
韓国の面白いバレンタインについての事実を発見いたしました。

In Korea, every 14th has event.
韓国では毎月１４日に何かしらイベントがあります。

(Boys give some cookies/candy or gifts to girls who gave a chocolate to them on Valentine's day)

Kamameshi Set/釜飯セット

Have you ever tried Kamameshi, Japanese Pilaf at Japanese Restaurant?
和食屋さんなどで釜飯を召し上がったことはありますか？





Kamameshi (釜飯) literally translates to "kettle rice" and is a traditional Japanese rice dish cooked in an iron pot.
釜飯はお米を使った日本の伝統的な料理の一つでして、釜で作られます。

Similar to takikomigohan, kamameshi is a type of Japanese pilaf cooked with various types of meat, seafood, and vegetables.
炊き込みご飯と似ており、様々な種類のお肉や魚介類、野菜などと一緒に料理されます。

By cooking it in an iron pot, the rice gets slightly burned at the bottom which adds a desirable flavor to the rice.
釜で炊くことにより、底にすこしオコゲが出来、お米の風味がより豊かになります。

Really easy to cook!
Set a solid fuel, set a pot, put ingredients, fire up, wait, wait, wait and steam!!
That's it!!!
作り方はとっても簡単です！
固形燃料をセットして、釜を置いて、具材を入れて、火をつけて、待って、待って、待って、蒸らす！！

Let me introduce a snow crab Kamameshi recipe



・Snow crab…2sticks
・Rice…1cup
・Dried shiitake mushroom…2
・Carrot…a little
・Sake…2spoons
・Soup stock(or Chicken stock)…110cc
・Spinach…a little

1. Make dried shiitake mushroom soft by soaking it in water.
2. Cut shiitake mushroom, crab and carrot.
3. Wash rice, put No.2 and rice together into the pot then pour soup stock and sake.
Make sure to put crab on top.
4. Boil until the fuel run out and put spinach.
5. Back the lid on top then steam for 5min.


本日はズワイ蟹の釜飯レシピをご紹介いたします


材料
・ズワイ蟹足 ２本
・お米　１カップ
・乾燥しいたけ　２つ
・にんじん　少し
・酒　２スプーン
・ダシ（スープストックかチキンストックでOK)　１１０CC
・ほうれん草もしくは水菜　少し

１．乾燥しいたけを水でもどす
２．しいたけ、蟹、にんじんを切る
３．お米をとぎ、No2をお米と一緒に釜に入れ、スープストックと酒を入れる
　　この際に蟹が一番上に来るようにしてください
４．固形燃料が切れるまで炊き、その後ほうれん草または水菜を入れる
５．フタを戻して５分ほど蒸らす


That's it!!
It's easy, isn't it??
これだけです！！
簡単ですよ！

I went there and watched The Green Hornet!この映画館でグリーンホーネットを見ました！


The movie was good and funny:)!!
とっても面白かったですよ＾＾！

From first to last, even the end credit was cool!
最初から最後まで、エンドロールまで良かったです！

1つだけ気になることがありました･･･


About the partner of the green hornet, KATO.
グリーンホーネットの相棒カトウ（アメリカ発音ですとケイトーになっていますが）についてです。


Kato is Japanese last name but he is Chinese.haha
カトウは日本の苗字ですが彼は中国人なんですよ。笑


Maybe the author didn't know that Kato is Japanese lastname. :)
作者はカトウが日本の苗字だってこと知らなかったんでしょうね＾＾


But anyways, the movie was good! If you have a chance to see it, you should check it!

I would like to introduce Wabi Sabi this time..
今回は日本特有の考え方「わびさび」をご紹介したいと思います。

If you hear Wabisabi,,WabiSabi Wabisabi Wabisabi WASABI....NOT!! it's not Wasabi! haha
わびさびと聞いたら。。わびさび、わびさび、わびさび。。ワサビ？？違います！！わびさびはワサビではないですよ！笑

Wabi-sabi is...
It represents a comprehensive Japanese world view or aesthetic centered on the acceptance of transience. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is “imperfect, impermanent and incomplete”.
わびさびとは、日本的な考え方（美意識）で、「不完全、永遠でないもの」こそが美しいという考え方です。



so if you look at Japanese temples, you can see the imperfect shape.. such as Ginkakuji
日本のお寺などを見てみると、不完全の形を見ることができます。例えば、銀閣寺を見てみましょう！





if you look this picture you can see that the side of the temple is not the same.
この写真分かりづらいですが、両サイドの形が違いますよね？？


do you know why we care about imperfectness so much?? would it be better to be perfect???
なぜ日本人は「不完全」なものにこだわるか、知っていますか？？パーフェクトの方が良い気がしますよね？

Because we think that If we are perfect, there is no space to improve.. we are human and imperfect so we need to grow better and better!!
それは、、もし私たちが完全なら、もう成長することが出来ないと考えるからです。私たちは人間ですし、そもそも完全ではないですよね？だからこそ日々学び成長することが必要なんです。

So we think Imperfect is beautiful as we are!!
だからこそ、不完全なものは美しいと思うのです。

I found something interesting fact about Geta, Japanese wooden footwear.
下駄について面白い記事を見つけました。





Geta (下駄) are a form of traditional Japanese footwear that resemble both clogs and flip-flops.
下駄は日本の伝統的な履物で、クロッグ（木靴）とフリップフロップ（日本で言うビーチサンダルですね）が合わさったようなものです。

They are a kind of sandal with an elevated wooden base held onto the foot with a fabric thong to keep the foot well above the ground.
足を地面よりも上にするために、高さのある木のベースがあり、それに布地の鼻緒がついているサンダルのようなものです。

They are worn with traditional Japanese clothing such as kimono or yukata.
着物や浴衣のような日本の伝統的な衣服と一緒に履かれます。


You've might seen those in Japanese Samurai movie!
日本の時代劇などで見たことがあるかもしれませんね！

I've been craving for ISOBEYAKI(Rice cake wrapped with Nori seaweed)...
最近無性に磯辺焼きが食べたくて仕方ないです。。。

醤油でお餅を焼いて海苔を巻いて食べる･･･ああぁぁ！考えただけでもよだれが（笑




Doring new year's holidays, Japanese eat rice cake.
お正月三が日に、日本人はお餅を食べます。

That's why I've been craving it for few days since new years.haha
なのでお正月から数日間ずっとお餅が食べたくて仕方ないのです（笑

I think it's raccoon dog Kadomatsu.
(A kadomatsu (門松, literally "gate pine") is a traditional Japanese decoration of the New Year placed in pairs in front of homes to welcome ancestral spirits or kami of the harvest.)
多分門松だと思うんです。
